Today I submitted my application to IVHQ for a month long placement in Dharamsala, India, starting May 19, 2014. I have asked to help with teaching English, which I hope will be a good match for my skills as a primary teacher.
While I have never been, I associate India with a few of my very favourite people in this world. I have been surrounded by the trappings of the culture since I was young. I have dressed in saris, been decked out with mehndi more times than I can count, been garba dancing, experienced the lavish beauty of Hindu weddings and have been honoured to be a member of a family I wasn't born into.
I am also thrilled to be off on another volunteer journey. I learned a lot from the first one, and I can only imagine what I will learn on this one. Plus, my wanderlust has been kicking in lately. While this is my second volunteer experience, I travel pretty regularly and it is definitely time be off again.
