One of the interesting things about trying to sleep here is the cacophony of sounds. There is no real insulation so sounds carry easily. You can hear the dogs at night, the dozens of them that wander free through town, join in a barking and howling festival. There are always birds singing or calling. Conversations and shouts from the street carry up and echo off the walls. Randomly you'll hear drums or chanting or music mixing in, some of it repetitive and monotonous and some of it surpassingly beautiful.
This is one of my favourite things about travelling. I love the feeling of knowing I'm somewhere new. So this morning I just thought I'd take a minute and be grateful for my life and everything around me.
