I have a problem with it comes to footwear. One could almost say it was in affliction. You see, I like shoes. But not practical, sensible shoes. No. I like heels! Kitten heels, sky high heels, anything in between... I would happily totter though life until my knees gave out! But heels are definitely not the best choice when traveling, particularly for activities such as backpacking across Europe, or say, volunteering in South Africa.
Each time it comes time to buy a pair of sensible shoes, something in a runner, I find myself lamenting the fact that the same money could be used for much prettier shoes. It doesn't help that runners make me feel short and that I don't like how they look on me. (I like them just fine on other people.) This has led to some interesting events where my loving friends hear I'm going on a field trip to a farm and hastily lend me shoes because they know full well I own nothing practical. I have amazing friends!
But the time has come. It is time for a pair of sensible shoes! My mission this weekend will be to find a pair and to actually come home with them, not deciding at the last minute that those sky blue kitten heels over there would be just fine for walking about in. Because experience has taught me I come to regret these decisions.
I'm thinking a light weight pair of Puma's, like the ones pictured. If you have any other suggestions, I'd love to hear them in the comments. :)
